How ICB Supports Belize’s Fishing Industry with BGFA

What happens when a trusted Belizean institution supports one of the most anticipated fishing tournaments in Belize?

When the Insurance Corporation of Belize (ICB) joined forces with the Belize Game Fish Association (BGFA), the result was more than just sponsorship. It was a partnership that celebrates community and Belize’s love for the sea. This year’s Belikin Blue Water Classic serves as a testament to how local support helps our anglers, waters, and tourism thrive. Insurance Corporation of Belize is a local General Insurance Company that has been serving Belize with General Insurance Products since 1982. ICB strives to provide its policyholders with the best possible products that will respond to their needs in the event of a loss, while also providing safe, comfortable, and progressive working environments for their staff. 

Mr. Erdulfo Nunez, founder of ICB, is a lifelong and avid sports fisherman. His passion for the sport was passed on to his son Dufy Nunez, who is the current CEO of ICB. Dufy is an enthusiastic sports fisherman who has been a member of the BGFA for over 20 years and has even previously served on the executive committee for seven years! Dufy shared that, “throughout the years, he has witnessed the remarkable progress BGFA has made and continues to support the organization, especially in its mission for conservation.”

This year, the Belikin Blue Water Classic welcomes ICB as a platinum sponsor. Both organizations share a deep commitment to conservation, stewardship, and the sustainable enjoyment of Belize’s natural resources for future generations. By working together, ICB and BGFA ensure that future generations can experience the same beauty and abundance that Belize has to offer today.

Dufy shared, “I have so many great and fond memories from fishing tournaments throughout the years, but I’d say my 2 favorite moments were landing my first blue (released) with team Runaway, captained by Samir Chebat, and landing my biggest blue marlin on BenAvi, captained by Benny Feinstein”.
